FAQ

Everyone. We believe everyone should have access to the information requirement to make informed decisions.

No. We ask for you postcode so we can determine the amount of solar radiation you would receive in a typical meteorological year. All generated reports can be accessed via links stored in your web browsers local storage. You can share the links too!

We use freely available data from the European Research Center: Photovoltaic Geographical Information System (PVGIS). The databse PVGIS-ERA5 provides roughly a 30km spatial resolution.

Yes, it is accurate and provides hourly data for more accurate simulation of solar energy production. The data we use is called a Typical Meteorological Year (TMY), it is a composite dataset representing a year of weather conditions for a specific location, constructed from a longer period of historical data, about 10 years. It's created by selecting representative months from different years, which, when combined, provide a reasonable representation of the location's typical climate.

Yes, the PVGIS typical meteorological year provided data described in the link. We use the "Global horizontal irradiance", "Direct (beam) irradiance", and "Diffuse horizontal irradiance" to calculate the solar radiation received at the solar panels for any given solar panel direction (azimuth relative to North) and slope (pitch of the panels relative to the horizontal). We will write an article on this soon!

All pricing plans are provided by the Australian Energy Regulator. The same pricing information is used on the Government comparison website Energy Made Easy, although we provide a more detailed comparison!
